Abstract

The verses in the Holy Quran concerning "building" (*binā’*) feature diverse linguistic structures and encompass meanings related to the construction of the universe, the building of the Sacred House, and the edifice that serves as a metaphor for actions and stances. These verses appear in various contexts—a diversity reflected in their grammatical construction—manifesting a range of structures and stylistic forms that merit careful study and analysis. Therefore, the aim of this research was to identify the concept of construction in language and terminology, to clarify its connotations in Qur'anic usage, to examine the verses of construction in the Holy Qur'an, to reveal the most important grammatical phenomena they contain, and to demonstrate the impact of these phenomena on guiding Qur'anic meaning, while highlighting the close relationship between grammatical analysis and understanding meaning. The research adopted the descriptive-analytical method. Among the study's findings is that the term *al-binā’* (building/structure) appears in the Holy Quran in diverse contexts, with its connotations varying according to the specific situation—though it consistently retains the core meaning of solid construction, creation, and erection. Furthermore, the choice of verbal sentences in verses concerning building is often linked to depicting the acts of construction and their ongoing nature, whereas nominal sentences serve to emphasize fixed and stable concepts. Finally, non-declarative structures—particularly interrogative and imperative forms—do not always convey their literal meanings; rather, they often shift to serve various rhetorical purposes, such as affirmation, denial, and guidance.
