The aesthetics of narrative dialogue in Mohammed Saber Ubeid's novel An Intentional Mistake constitute the backbone of its dramatic and emotional structure. Here, dialogue transcends its conventional role as a mere tool for advancing the plot, becoming instead a mirror that reflects the fragmentation and aspirations of the human self. In the first section, "Fictional Narrative Dialogue" manifests as a liberatory force that animates inanimate objects and generates mental monologues; these monologues anticipate reality to reconstruct the shattered pieces of identity. This narrative flow extends into the second section through "Continuous Narrative Dialogue," which flows seamlessly between characters to resist the physical destruction of spaces in Mosul and prevent the self from drowning in isolation. Conversely, the third section examines "Discontinuous Narrative Dialogue," reflecting the crisis of contemporary communication; the truncation of narrative text and fragmented messages embody the tragedy of loss and existential alienation. Ultimately, these dialogic patterns integrate to craft a deeply human text pulsing with profound questions.
