Abstract

The relationship between Iraq and Jordan is one of the most prominent relationships between Arab countries, given the historical, geographical, social, economic, and cultural ties between the two countries. It was strengthened through the unity of the monarchy in the two countries in its early stages. The relationship was characterized by friendliness for most of the periods, despite its occasional tension as a result of political changes in Iraq, especially after the 1958 revolution in Iraq and the end of the monarchy. However, the relationship between the two countries quickly returned to rapprochement. The two countries moved to strengthen this relationship between them through mutual visits and coordination on regional issues. The economic aspect also played an important role in strengthening the relationship between the two countries, as Jordan depends on the Iraqi side as an important source of energy. Jordan is also considered a trade gateway to the outside world, which is important for Iraq, especially during times of crisis, as many agreements were signed between the two countries.
