Geographical Analysis of Traffic Accidents on the Road Linking (Baghdad – Wasit)

Abstract

This research aims to study the geographical analysis of traffic accidents on the road linking Baghdad and Wasit by identifying the locations of accidents and analyzing their spatial and temporal distribution. The study seeks to identify the factors influencing the occurrence of traffic accidents. It relies on collecting statistical data related to the study area during the specified time period.The research also examines the main causes of traffic accidents, such as the driver, pedestrians, road conditions, vehicle conditions, and excessive speed, in addition to proposing possible solutions to reduce the occurrence of traffic accidents in the study area. The study concluded that there should be continuous verification of vehicle safety and the availability of durability and safety standards through annual inspections as well as sudden vehicle checks. It also emphasizes the strict enforcement of traffic laws and penalties for violators.Furthermore, it is necessary to monitor and develop traffic awareness programs to help reduce traffic accidents. The study also stresses the importance of repairing all road bumps and potholes immediately and quickly, as well as repaving roads with poor pavement as soon as possible, since these issues can cause traffic congestion and increase the likelihood of traffic accidents..
