The Role of Non-Profit Institutions and Organizations in Mitigating the Repercussions of Poverty in Iraq Selected Models

Abstract

Poverty is considered one of the most significant challenges facing Iraqi society in recent years. Its effects have not been limited to the material aspect alone; rather, they have extended to influence social, health, educational, and even environmental stability for individuals. In light of these growing challenges, non-profit institutions and organizations have emerged as humanitarian and developmental entities seeking to alleviate the suffering of the most vulnerable groups through the provision of direct assistance, the implementation of development programs, and the support of education, employment opportunities, and social protection.The selected models examined in this research demonstrate that the success of these institutions is not solely linked to the volume of financial support they receive, but rather to their ability to reach vulnerable populations, understand the local context, and operate in a spirit of cooperation with both the community and official authorities. Furthermore, many organizations have contributed to transforming aid from temporary relief solutions into sustainable development projects that help individuals improve their living conditions and achieve self-reliance.The research concludes that reducing the repercussions of poverty in Iraq requires concerted efforts between the state and non-profit institutions, alongside the enhancement of transparency, the expansion of developmental initiatives, and the support of programs focused on human development and socio-economic empowerment. Combating poverty is not the responsibility of a single entity; rather, it is a collective societal responsibility aimed at building a more stable and equitable future.
